PPSTA Launches Project School Head

JOHN LAURENCE ROBES, MMC

Quezon City, Philippines – 28 March 2022

Now nearing its 75th anniversary, PPSTA launched its Project School Head last 28 March 2022 at the PPSTA Bldg. 2 Auditorium, #245 Banawe St. Quezon City. Proposed and arranged by the PPSTA Regional Operations Department Head Mr. Dillion “Bong” Arante, and supported by the PPSTA Board of Trustees, the project was intended to be a review forum in preparation for the upcoming National Qualifying Examination for School Heads (NQESH).

Participants from various regions were invited and assured of their slots through the endorsement of PPSTA Trustees. They were provided with free meals and lodging at the PPSTA Dormitory which is conveniently located across the venue. In addition, they were also provided with review kits which were used and discussed during the two-day review that revolved around five (5) different domains.

Backed with years of experience and vast knowledge in the field of education, Trustee Teresita Domalanta of Region 2, Trustee Luisa Yu of Region 8, Trustee Arturo Bayocot of Region 9, and Independent Trustee Franklin Suñga graced the two-day event as the esteemed lecturers for the different domains. Trustee Dennis Michael Abeleda served as the engaging moderator and Trustee France Castro shared inspirational stories and message regarding the teaching profession.

Domain 1 on Leading Strategically mainly highlights the importance of school heads in assuring that a school’s goals and objectives are understood and embraced by all involved stakeholders. This was focused on by Trustee Domalanta as she provided the attendees with inputs on the school head’s image both with the students, with the parents, and with fellow teachers in the field. Domain 2 centered on the management of systems and processes in schools, a topic that all of the speakers on both days discussed in detail, adding input after input from each succeeding speaker.

Trustee Yu opened the discussions for Domain 3 which was about promoting the quality of teaching and learning as well as providing instructional leadership towards improving the competence levels of the teachers which included the implementation of the K to 12 Basic Education Program. The attendees were also privileged to have Region 10 Regional Director, and at the same time, PPSTA Trustee Dr. Art Bayocot who lectured on Domain 4 relative to Developing Self and Others, a domain that tackled the role of school heads in nurturing themselves and others around them.

Dr. Debbie Resma, Placido Del Mundo Elementary School’s principal was also present as discussant on Domain 5, Building Connections which emphasized on the importance of school heads in engaging with stakeholders for the improvement of school communities. Related to all these domains, Trustee Suñga presented and discussed the Legal aspects of these domains and roles of future school heads, as well as their importance to both the schools, and the education sector in its entirety.

PPSTA is set to institutionalize this project. For more information, visit the PPSTA Facebook page at Philippine Public School Teachers Association.
